About author Emily Pogue

As a former full-time human services coordinator, author Emily helped thousands of clients navigate the Social Security system. But it took nearly 40 years for her to realize that she has always been a writer.

Growing up in South Dakota, she attended a few years of college before making an adventure of her twenties and – ignoring any advice from her mother – moved to the East Coast where she was a nanny and attended bartending school.

After spending time in New Jersey and Philadelphia, she finally moved back to the Midwest where she shares a small piece of the prairie with her husband, son, and four undead fish.

Emily coordinated Social Security benefits and performed case management for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for 12 years before recently joining the finance world. Social Security in 30 Minutes Vols. 1 & 2 are her first published books and are dedicated to the amazing people she spent so many years working with.

Since realizing her dream to be a writer, Emily has created content and copy for websites, magazines, and small businesses around the U.S. in areas such as home building, automotive, parenting, disabilities, and weddings. She shares her random thoughts in her blog MusingsandMuddle.com.

While she loves helping her clients harness of the power of words to grow their businesses, she finds parenting her wildly imaginative child her biggest achievement.
